Queen's Jubilee Planting

What are we doing?
We are planting and nurturing native trees and shrubs in Bribie Island parks as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Why are we doing it?
As part of the Queen's Green Canopy project, the federal government offered grants for planting trees across Australia to commemerate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022. BIEPA was successfull in securing a grant from Terry Young MP and we're using it to fund this project.
Many of Bribie's parks could do with more native trees, and Ernest Sendall Park was nominated by the government for our project. This park was originally planted on marine mud excavated from the canals, which is very hard and not very porous, so will be challenging to dig and water.
We hope that with a bit of hard work we will establish a grove of mature native trees that support a wide variety of creatures. We hope that the children who come and help will grow up with these trees and feel a sense of pride in their accomplishment.
