About the event
Some of you may have taken part in this in the past. It involves counting birds seen in your backyard, local park, or foreshore in a single 20 minute period during the week from 17 – 23 October. BIEPA is planning a display about this event in the Library for the month of October if you'd like more information.
Tip: Download Aussie Bird Count from your app store for help with identification and to record and submit sightings.
By participating in the Aussie Bird Count, you will be helping BirdLife Australia find out about the common species that live where people live. Providing us with a snapshot of Australian birds at the same time each year allows us to look at the trends in our bird communities from year to year. This is important because it’s these more common species that give us the best indication of the health of the environment – think of birds as a barometer for nature!Â
