About the event
Members of the public are invited to participate in the annual “Clean up for Hatchlings” event on Bribie Island. This event has been conducted on beaches throughout the Sunshine Coast Council region over many years, and BIEPA is proud to promote the event here on the ocean beaches of Bribie Island.
The event aims to remove marine debris from our beaches, where turtles have nested over the summer, to give our loggerhead turtle hatchlings the safest journey to the ocean possible.
Members from BIEPA, Bribie Island National Park Turtle Conservation Volunteers, and Bribie Island Turtle Trackers (BITTS) will coordinate the cleanup.
Participant sign-on sheets will be available at two BIEPA registration/information marquees, located at:
Bluey Piva Park, Cnr North Street and First Ave, Woorim; and
Beach Access 19, Lowry Street, Woorim
Volunteers are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear, sun safe clothing and hat and sunscreen. Please bring garden type gloves and collection bags, if you have them.
Pre-registration here will assist coordinators in planning for the event.
