'FLYWAYS' – the movie

This visually spectacular documentary follows shorebirds across the planet and reveals the science, people and international effort behind their conservation. The screening is be followed by a Q&A supported by BirdLife Southern Queensland.

Flyways follows these remarkable birds along their ancient migration routes between the Southern Hemisphere and the Arctic. Through spectacular cinematography and cutting-edge tracking technology, the film reveals both the astonishing endurance of migratory shorebirds and the work of scientists, conservationists and citizen scientists across the world who are trying to secure their future.

For Bribie Island, this global story arrives right on our doorstep. Each spring, migratory shorebirds return to Moreton Bay and Pumicestone Passage, making our local shores part of an extraordinary international network of habitats on which these birds depend.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A and conversation about shorebirds and their conservation, with support from BirdLife Southern Queensland.
