About the event

Enjoy making a positive difference in helping to collect rubbish that has washed ashore along the Pumicestone Passage. BIEPA has hired a 12 seater BBQ boat for the whole day. Nominate for either the morning crew (7:30AM to 12 noon) or afternoon crew (12 noon to 4:30PM).

The actual cleanup areas along Pumicestone Passage, for the morning and afternoon crews, will be dependent on tides and prevailing weather conditions. The start (7:00AM) and finish (5:00PM) point for the boat hire will be Bribie Island Boat Charter at Spinnaker Sound Marina. The main pickup / dropoff of volunteer crews and collected marine debris will be at the Banksia Beach Boat Ramp, off Solander Esplanade, just south of Sunderland Drive, Banksia Beach. The pickup and drop off times at Banksia Beach Boat Ramp are expected to be around 7:30AM, 12 noon and 4:30PM.

Each crew (morning and afternoon) will comprise a licensed boat operator and up to 9 volunteers. Volunteers are requested to wear sturdy footwear (that can handle getting wet), a hat, gloves and sunsafe clothing. Also bring a water bottle, sunscreen and snacks.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

BIEPA equipment provided includes a selection of gloves and reef shoes, buckets, bags, litter pickers and some sharps containers.

The BBQ boat will have appropriate life jackets on board and is also equipped with a toilet.

If you are keen, please register your interest ASAP, so that we can finalise crews. Spaces limited. Thank you!
