About the event
Bribie Island’s beaches serve as a vital refuge for a diverse array of species. From threatened sea turtles and migratory shorebirds to the secretive lives of creatures hidden beneath the sand, these beaches are more than just a backdrop for summer fun—they are vibrant ecosystems teeming with life and stories waiting to be told.
As part of the Seaside Museum's opening event for their Shifting Shores: Bribie’s Beautiful Beaches exhibition, BIEPA member Sherry Bruce will lead a presentation that delves deep into the fascinating Community of Life along Bribie Island’s shores. This event will explore how these creatures form interconnected relationships that supports human well-being. However, it’s not just about marvelling at the wildlife; the beaches of Bribie Island are facing challenges that threaten their delicate balance.
But with stewardship and a deeper understanding of the Community of Life, BIEPA volunteers along with dedicated community members are focusing efforts on ensuring that the beaches remain a haven for wildlife while still allowing people to enjoy the natural beauty that the island offers. During the presentation, Sherry will share stories of the beach inhabitants who face these challenges and highlight the role that responsible stewardship can play in protecting this special place.
Join us at the Shifting Shores opening event and become part of the movement to protect and cherish Bribie Island’s beautiful beaches.
