About the event

Each year, marine turtles return to the dunes of Bribie Island National Park to nest — part of an extraordinary life cycle that spans decades and entire ocean basins.

This two-hour session will bring that story to life, drawing on the latest insights from the BIEPA-supported TurtleCare Sunshine Coast monitoring program. It’s designed for anyone with an interest in our local beaches, wildlife, and conservation.

We’ll cover:

  • The life cycle and migration of Bribie’s turtles

  • What actually happens on the beach during nesting season

  • How TurtleCare volunteers monitor and protect nests

  • The real threats turtles face — from light pollution to vehicle impacts and marine debris

  • Simple, practical ways you can help improve hatchling success

This session is an opportunity to better understand what’s happening on our beaches — and how you can play a role in protecting the next generation of turtles.
