BIEPA and Nature Nose are creating handmade gifts for Elders at the upcoming Jargums Awards Ceremony on August 14th.
As sponsor of Nature Nose’s research project, Project Potoroo, BIEPA is marking six months of its Right Way Science workshops for children at PIEEC, where kids took part in hands-on activities like preparing bait for sensor camera stations, exploring the hidden world of animal scat, watching Jarrah the conservation dog in action, and more. Volunteers hand crafted pots from recycled containers and natural materials including palm fronds. The patiently stitched pots will be filled with native flowers and presented to community Elders in recognition of their generous sharing of cultural knowledge with young people and the Nature Nose team.
This collaboration reflects the commitment of BIEPA, Nature Nose, and PIEEC to walk together in caring for Country, guided by traditional ecological knowledge, collaborative science, community engagement, and sharing across generations.
