The third annual Bribie Island Nature Festival (BINF) was a genuine triumph, moving our community and the public of the region ever faster towards a real appreciation of just how special Bribie is. This has been a long-term objective of BIEPA.

Festival Director Libby Anstis once again showed us how fortunate we are to have her with us in BIEPA and on Bribie. She and her team, Erica Hart, Darren Jew, Jill Cutting, Neil Hampton and a host of amazing volunteers created and delivered a truly impressive collection of events, attracting many hundreds of people from all over the region. These events encompassed unique, high calibre arts, education, experiences, and entertainment.

It is a real privilege for BIEPA to participate and be a partner in this fantastic annual fixture. Reports and celebration of key events too numerous to list here are featured elsewhere online and in social media posts. Suffice it to say how proud I am of our community, to see how the developing narrative of the vital primacy of nature as a tourism drawcard on our special island is taking hold and inspiring the entire region.

Through BINF and many other initiatives which involve hundreds of active volunteers BIEPA is inspiring a broader audience around Queensland. Of particular value is the way in which our amazing cultural heritage is centrally celebrated in the Festival through the partnership with Pumicestone Indigenous Education and Employment Council (PIEEC).

Well done to all the hardworking volunteers (among whom a special mention should be made I believe of Brendan and Sally Walsh). Thank you for helping us all to believe a future where nature comes first is possible!

Unfortunately I was too ill to participate but I did buy tickets to a few events. It sounded fantastic. I am so happy our beautiful island is becoming known as a nature reserve. Now we just need to stamp out the huge number of people who drive like idiots up Woorim beach. Numbers should also be strictly monitored by our wonderful Rangers.

Wildlife and the environment are my most important concerns.
