Better Bribie Transport

What are we doing?
Campaigning for nature-friendly active and public transport options
Why are we doing it?
The use of cars is very much encouraged on Bribie Island, and the alternatives for those who can't drive or prefer active transport are rather limited. This has resulted in high volumes of traffic on weekends and holidays, with consequential demand for more road building. Building roads destroys and fragments habitat, making life more difficult for our native fauna and flora.
We believe that better active and public transport on and around Bribie Island will reduce the pressure to build roads and give residents and visitors a more enjoyable experience of their time on Bribie. People love Bribie for the nature, not the car parks.
How are we doing it?
We have set up a Better Bribie Transport group on Facebook which has now attracted over 800 members. This is used to keep people informed about Council and State Government strategy, plans, surveys, etc. By building a large community of informed residents and visitors, we aim to act as the voice for nature on Bribie Island when it comes to decisions on transport.
How can you help?
Join us in researching transport options, monitoring government plans and projects, engaging the local community, and envisioning a future Bribie Island with beautiful cycle ways, efficient on-demand electric buses, memorable ferry trips, and no traffic jams!
