Successfully lobbied for conspicuous signage to reduce the number of wildlife collisions  on the Island’s roads.

BIEPA joins PANAG (Pumicestone Area Noise Abatement Group) as an environmental representative. BIEPA lobbies on noise and safety issues related to the impacts of rock concerts and helicopters on resident and migratory shorebirds, marine fauna, flora and habitat - protected under EPBC Act, UN Conventions, Ramsar (1993) and CMS (1991) (Convention on Conservation of Migratory Species).

Implemented another major on-going Dune Planting Project, including Community Planting Days.

Accepted invitation from Healthy Land and Water to become a member of the Moreton Bay Ramsar Wetland Stakeholder Network.

Participated in and delivered a presentation at the Pumicestone Passage Catchment Convergence Conference.

Supported and collected signatures on a petition, tabled in the Queensland Parliament, to impose restrictions on recreational ORV driving on Bribie’s beaches.

Initiated an on-going project with the University of QLD to study the impacts of recreational beach driving on Bribie Island’s ocean beach: Environmental, Economic, Social and First Nations Cultural Heritage.

Hosted the “Nature-Based Tourism Vision Forum” with prominent Speakers and attended by over 150 participants.

Agreed to join, campaign and be represented on the Pumicestone Passage Catchment Local Management Body.

A gang of volunteers planted dozens of native trees and plants in Ernest Sendall Park on Bribie Island under a Federal Grant for the “Planting Trees for the Queen’s Jubilee” Program. Read more...
