Buckleys Hole Weeding
Buckleys Hole Weeding

More from this Mission Team...

What are we doing?

We are organising teams of volunteers to remove invasive weeds from the Buckleys Hole Conservation Park near Red Beach on Bribie Island.

Why are we doing it?

This Conservation Park is crucial habitat for many native animal and plant species on Bribie Island. The park is currently getting overrun by invasive weeds like asparagus fern and brazilian pepper tree, which are toxic to native wildlife. Council has agreed to fund BIEPA to work with Barung Landcare to help with their efforts to control weeds in the park.

How are we doing it?

We have a grant from City of Moreton Bay Council and have organised a set of teams of volunteer weeders, who each commit to a regular weeding day over a period of several months. Teams have a leader and are provided with training and safety gear. There will be Council/Barung staff present to help with identification of invasive weeds.

How can you help?

Project Tasks

See if there are any specific tasks you can help with to make progress on this project. If every BIEPA member takes on just one task, we will have a huge impact on protecting nature on Bribie Island.
