Changing the Narrative 2026

Changing the Narrative is an annual event which brings together BIEPA, PIEEC, and the Bribie Community Kindergarten to acknowledge the true narrative of our country.

Each year on 26th January we welcome hundreds of community members to celebrate and commemorate together on this day which has become so contested. We are changing the narrative, one year at a time.

Led by Pumicestone Indigenous Education & Employment Council (PIEEC) with support from BIEPA, the Kindy and the City of Moreton Bay, the whole Bribie Island community is invited to reflect, and to walk together. This is an indication of the possibilities which lie ahead, for our society to realise its potential as a mature, cohesive community - one which acknowledges the truth of our collective past, recognises responsibility for damage inflicted by colonialism, and pledges to work together and walk together towards a more understanding shared future.
