BIEPA has had a monthly market stall for many years. Today we have additional outreach.

BIEPA’s volunteers work in many directions to promote and protect Bribie’s nature. Over many years the Community Team has committed itself to presenting our projects and encouraging the general public to get involved.

The monthly market stall is key to this, an opportunity to engage with folk who might not otherwise come across us. We get very good feedback, hold valuable conversations, attract new members and raise funds from sales of merchandise such as our books and tee shirts.

Today this type of outreach is complemented by our pop-up shops at the shopping centre, and our presence at various community events like the forthcoming Classic Boat Regatta, the annual Changing the Narrative event, the Giant Turtle, EcoFest, Eco-Flix and more. This obviously creates a need for excited, fresh, happy members to operate each stall.

More than fifty people have assisted over time in small groups, and generally find it an enjoyable way to volunteer for BIEPA. The question has arisen about how to get the best value from these amazing efforts.

So Geoff Ginn, a long-time market stall coordinator is seeking feedback from members. We want you to suggest ideas for future market stalls, to advise if you feel there are better ways forward, how we can most effectively utilise our volunteer power without demanding too much from people. No organisation is effective if stretched!

So please, jot a few bullet points on an email to Geoff (no lengthy essays!) to help him test the temperature of issues related to the market stalls, such as should we reduce the number of stalls per year, how can we organise to make it easier for you to help, and what kind of options might streamline our outreach?
