BIEPA was fortunate to be successful in applying for a Queensland Government Community Sustainability Grant in March 2024. The Grant was called “Marine Debris Clean-Up 2024” and the total amount granted was $9,993.

As a result of receiving this grant, we have been able to conduct many beach clean-ups, both on shore on the Bribie Island National Park Ocean Beach and by boat on more inaccessible shoreline of the marine park up the Pumicestone Passage. BIEPA volunteers have been generous in time and effort in joining these clean-ups and have removed many hundreds of kilograms of rubbish that was polluting our precious waterways, beaches and mangroves.

The grant timeline is coming to an end and we would like to alert you to our signature event that is scheduled for Thursday June 5th 2025 on World Environment Day. On this day we plan an early boat trip up towards Gallaghers Point. On return, the debris collected will be counted and itemised for reporting, and then we will be providing a celebratory picnic lunch.

You are invited to participate in the clean-up itself, and/or the lunch at the end.

More details will be provided closer to the event.
